Publishing in Comparative Law: Q&A with the ICLQ

The British Association of Comparative Law organised a Q&A session on “Publishing in Comparative Law: Q&A with the ICLQ” on 19 May 2023, chaired by Dr Sophie Turenne (Cambridge University). Anna Riddell (ICLQ managing editor) explained the publication process in general in the International &Comparative Law Quarterly – a top comparative law journal in the rankings developed by Thomson Reuters. Professor Paula Giliker (University of Bristol, ICLQ editorial board member) explained the publication process for contributions in comparative law.

The two speakers explained the different types of outputs published in the Journal, distinguishing between Articles, Short Articles and Book reviews and explaining the strengths and opportunities offered by each type of publications. They provided statistics about rejections and the review process in general. They also suggested a number of tips in terms of writings, audience, comparative perspectives, good cases of excellent comparative scholarships. And many more…

Many thanks to our two speakers for their enthusiasm and generosity in sharing their expertise and to our chair for digging a little bit in the publication process.
