Founded in 2016, the BACL Blog is the online publication of the British Association of Comparative Law. It publishes original analyses, case comments, book reviews, reports on legal developments, and reflections on current issues relating to comparative law in its broadest sense. It also hosts occasional thematic series.
It aims to foster dialogue across jurisdictions, methodologies and areas of law, and welcomes contributions from both established and early-career scholars.
Editorial Team
The BACL Blog was founded by Professor Yseult Marique, who served as Editor-in-Chief from 2016 to 2025.
The Blog is currently managed by Dr Sophie Turenne as main Editor, with the support of Dr Sirko Harder as Editor.
The Interwar series (2022-24) was edited by Dr Radosveta Vassileva and Prof Yseult Marique, and the Obligations Series by Dr Radosveta Vassileva, Prof Yseult Marique, Dr Sirko Harder, and Dr Colm McGrath.
Blog posting and social media engagement: Dr Radosveta Vassileva (2023-2024), Dr Penny Giosa (2025-) and Dr Bo Wang (2025-2026).
Submissions
The BACL Blog welcomes proposals for blog posts, book reviews, case notes, reports on legal developments and thematic series.
Posts are typically around 1,500 words in length and normally no longer than 2,000 words. Contributions should include headings and hyperlinks to relevant sources where appropriate. Footnotes should be avoided.
